The Third Annual “Fajita Lounge Showdown” is Back August 31

The Fajita Lounge Showdown is back for a third year, hosted in Southtown at Gimme Gimme on Sunday, August 31, 2025. The free event will feature 8 local chefs competing head-to-head for the title of “Best Fajita Tacos” in San Antonio. It’s all you can eat fajita tacos, Live Oak Vodka cocktails and more!

WHAT:

Gimme Gimme is excited to announce the third annual “Fajita Lounge Showdown” featuring 8 local chefs competing head-to-head for the title of “Best Fajita Tacos” in San Antonio. Since 2022, the Fajita Lounge has been hosting carne asada pop-ups that have become adored by all its fans with free fajita tacos for everyone, hosted by Aaron Peña, Chef Matt Garcia and Chef Jake Gonzales.

The competition will take place on Sunday, August 31, with 8 local chefs featuring their best take on the fajita taco. Tacos will be free for all on a first come, first served basis while supplies last. Featured establishments include:

• Cullum’s Attaboy (Fajita Lounge Showdown 2024 Champion)

• Leche de Tigre

• Mixtli

• Bar Loretta

• Bucán Rodeo

• Rosa’s Kitchen

• Buddy’s Big Trouble

• The Friendly Spot

This year’s event will feature brand new judges, including:

• José Ralat, Taco Editor at Texas Monthly

• Jose Arredondo, Multimedia Journalist at Spectrum News San Antonio

• Kat Stinson, San Antonio-based food & lifestyle writer

The chefs will compete for a grand prize of $500. The bar will feature specialty cocktails by Live Oak Vodka and DJ Texas Papi will keep the party going until 2 AM. This event is FREE and open to the public, must be 21 or older.
